Historic Restoration and Preservation

It used to be that a total restoration was the preferred method of preserving an antique vehicle's past. Now we recognize that much of the value of an original vehicle is in its historic and original condition. We work to maintain that historic integrity - not replacing it with new, but working to preserve what remains - and then meticulously and painstakingly restoring the vehicle to its original glory. Hansen Wheel and Wagon Shop carefully documents all original aspects of the project and draws from extensive research into the history on each specific style and type of vehicle. Any reconstructing is done using the same materials and methods of construction as originally used. Special painting and finishing techniques are used to achieve the desired 'authentic' finish appearance. Contact our Museum Services Department for more information. “We chose Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop to complete the restoration project on our original 1865 Abbott-Downing Coach. Mr Hansen and his staff were very sensitive to our wishes and consulted with our staff throughout the project. I would highly recommend Hansen Wheel & Wagon to anyone who may have a need of their services.” - Seth Hopkins, Executive Director, Booth Western Art Museum
