A large number of original and reproduction chuck wagons congregate at a growing number of chuck wagon gatherings held annually in connection with museums, rodeos, and reenactments. Each Memorial Day weekend the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City hosts one of the most authentic of these gatherings. Here, a limited number of chuck wagons, chosen for their historical authenticity, set up, cook and serve samples of food throughout the weekend.

The Western Chuck Wagon Assoc., sponsored by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, maintains a registry of authentic chuck wagons located in the U.S. This organization is dedicated to the perpetuation of the history and lore of one of the most colorful chapters of our American history.
