The Buckboard originated on the homesteads of the mountainous regions, and became a useful vehicle for work and pleasure. Its suspension comes from the springy 'buck-boards' that make up the floor & body. Much of the charm of this rugged vehicle is its simple design, versatility and functionality.

                       Even though there has been many alterations in springs, the two

                       examples below are the purest form of the American buckboard.

This wagon has flair boards and a drop tail gate. It also has cut under wheels. This small wagon was used due it it's ease of maneuvering on narrow streets and allies.
